The marriage of Annamarie, the daughter of TRANSPIRE member
Dennis Vickers, to Chris was a day to remember!
Andrew writes:
Please see below photographs of the buses used to carry the bridesmaids and guests on Saturday 22nd May to the wedding of Annamarie & Chris
Vickers-Skidmore at Dronfield Church, then on to Chatsworth House and Ashford in the Water for the reception. Cosy Coaches Bedford OB was
hired to carry the six bridesmaids from the brides address on Prospect Road, Old Whittington to Dronfield Church for a 3pm service whilst the
bride and groom travelled by Rolls Royce and Daimler cars respectively, the latter from the deputy Transpire treasurer Dennis Vickers' home
just round the corner on Holland Road. All remaining 150 guests were treated to a ride on either the 123 Group's ex Blackpool Transport Leyland
Atlantean 353 UHG 353Y driven by Shayne Howarth, or the Chesterfield Leyland Panther 93 ENU 93H driven by custodian Lee Roddis, both Transpire
members. The Atlantean ran from pick up points at Chesterfield Railway Station and Town Hall as well as Prospect Road. Everyone, after
enjoying a quick drink in the local pub opposite, were taken via Owler Bar to the Golden Gates private road approach to Chatsworth House.
Here the bride and groom transferred to a horse and carriage supplied by the Red House Carriage Museum at Darley Dale for a ride to the House
where they were greeted by all the guests who were lining both sides of Lodge Hill (the approach road to the stable block) and received a
round of applause as they passed through. Following a photograph session in the Duchess's usually private rose garden some guests were taken
by 353 to a buffet meal at Ashford in the Water whilst the remaining guests enjoyed a wedding breakfast in the Carriage House Restuarant. All
the buffet guests were returned in time for the speeches then 353 made three return journeys to Dronfield and Chesterfield at 21.40,
23.40 and 01.40. Excellent hot and sunny weather all helped in making this a wonderful and memorable day for all. Congratulations to the
bride and groom.
