This picture of the Crich bus service was taken at 11:00 ish this morning (5 January 2010).
I think these two buses were due in Crich at 9:32. You can see there is very little snow under the 142. I have posted more pictures
HERE.

I start with a couple of images taken fifteen years apart almost to the day in Park Road, Chesterfield at the junction with Summerfield Road.
In the 1995 picture an unidentified Chesterfield Transport Leyland National heads into town from Grangewood Farm on the 38/39 routes. Back then if
I recall during the day it was a x30minute headway Monday to Saturday with no evening or Sunday service.

Today (5 January 2010) at 9.45am when the second picture was taken two Stagecoach Chesterfield Optare Solos pass on the 39 service that provides a
Monday to Saturday x8minute headway, x30minutes evenings and Sundays.

Shortly after this picture was taken the service was suspended with buses snowbound on the steep incline up Park Road between Summerfield Road and
Boythorpe Avenue.

The snow continued and then there was a respite for awhile and the next picture shows the compacted snow on the roadway with a Solo taking great care.

During the early afternoon a Derbyshire County Council snowplough then drove both ways up and down Park Road followed in the distance by another 39 Solo.

Later
one of the Solos appeared to be subbed by an Excel. Stagecoach certainly tried their level best to maintain a service to and from the Grangewood Farm
Estate, no doubt much to the relief of the residents.

What a difference 24-hours makes. With the road relatively clear a route 39 Optare Solo driver encounters bright sunshine as
the brow of the hill is reached in Park Road
